Been a while...

With so much going on and so much not going on, it has been difficult to find a moment to focus and just write. This is such a wonderful country populated with so many incredible people, I can hardly believe what's happening right now. Enough is being said on either side that I don't need to add my two cents worth. Instead, I'll just say that I hope sanity will prevail very soon. Everybody needs a break. A fresh new morning to wake up to. A reason to celebrate. An end to the madness. A recovery from the illness. A lightening of the burden. A future to look forward to.

In the meantime, yesterday Tom and I went huckleberry picking, the fourth time in six days for me. What a beautiful peace to be found in the forest where it's quiet and cool sitting for hours plucking off the purple berries that most years are gone by now. Not this year. There's a rare abundance. Huckleberry muffins will be a joy to cook throughout the coming months when the abundance will be just a memory of summer.

Such a beautiful memory of my oldest daughter and her children picking huckleberries—even if most of their efforts ended up in little mouths before they left the forest.
